About Pashchimanchal Campus | Institute of Engineering

Pashchimanchal Campus Overview: A Pioneer in Engineering Education

Pashchimanchal Campus, popularly recognized as the Western Regional Campus (WRC), stands as a cornerstone of technical excellence in Nepal. Located in the picturesque valley of Pokhara at Lamachaur, it is one of the four constituent campuses of the Institute of Engineering (IOE) under Tribhuvan University. Since its inception in 1981 (2038 BS), the institution has evolved from a technician-level training center to a premier engineering hub offering diverse undergraduate and postgraduate programs.

Spread across approximately 312 ropanis of lush greenery, the campus provides an ideal environment for academic pursuit. The history of the campus is deeply rooted in international cooperation, having been established with assistance from the World Bank and UNDP/ILO. Originally focused on producing middle-level skilled human resources, it successfully transitioned to offering Bachelor of Engineering (BE) programs in 1999, starting with Civil Engineering. Today, it is renowned for introducing unique programs like Geomatics Engineering, being the first in Nepal to do so.

The mission of Pashchimanchal Campus is to provide quality technical education and produce competent engineering professionals who can contribute to the national and international development sectors. With a vision to become a center of excellence in engineering research and education, the campus focuses on innovative teaching methodologies, rigorous academic standards, and a strong culture of research and development.
